The Youth Justice Worker (YJW) will establish linkages between individual youth and community-based services to divert youth with serious mental health needs and in conflict with the law. The YJW will coordinate youth justice committees for youth in conflict with the law who have been referred by police, crown, judge, or probation as outlined by the Ministry. The YJW will establish and maintain professional working relationships with community stakeholders.

Hours of Work

Full-time contract (35 hours per week) ending March 29, 2025 with possibility of extension

Hourly Rate/Salary

Minimum $25.87 to maximum $31.47 per hour; Salary commensurate with education and experience

Qualifications
  • Three (3) year Bachelor's Degree in Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences or Social Work
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related work experience
  • Experience working with youth with complex needs
  • Understanding of police and court processes, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and criminal code legislation
  • Knowledge of relevant local resources available to clients and their families
  • Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety, with a willingness to contribute and lead in the culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events for clients and their families/caregivers, colleagues, other community members and yourself
  • Demonstrate ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide:
    • proof of eligibility to work in Canada
    • a valid class G Ontario driver's licence and use of a reliable motor vehicle; insurability on Agency vehicle insurance policy
    • clear Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Preference will be given to bilingual (French/English) candidates
