Reporting administratively to the Primary Health Care Program, the Administrative Assistant (AY2) is responsible for providing administrative support to the staff located in the Clinic/Mobile Clinic/Community Health Services office. This includes clerical duties relating to client care and treatment, reception services, general office duties, scheduling as well as records maintenance. The incumbent may also assist with the equipping and preparation of clinic rooms for primary care providers as directed and may assist with basic procedures as trained.

The incumbent will exercise the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed, and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Administrative Assistant Program or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years recent administrative experience in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Outlook
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage workload by establishing priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service concepts and practices
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and effective organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment along with ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a multi-tasking environment
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums
