JOB TITLE: Buyer

JOB LOCATION: Mine Site, near Saguenay Quebec

JOB TYPE: Full-time (5 days on / 2 days off rotation)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all supply chain activities achieve high levels of efficiency and effectiveness to maintain smooth operation
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement the overall supply strategy and objectives
  • Supervise supply and warehouse staff, ensuring efficient processing of service and material requests
  • Manage the strategic purchasing process end-to-end, including spend analysis, needs identification, product/service research, negotiation, and risk/opportunity evaluation
  • Oversee the tactical purchasing process for equipment, capital goods, and services
  • Maintain purchasing policies, standards, processes, and procedures
  • Prepare and monitor supply service performance indicators
  • Identify and implement internal process improvements to maximize operational and resource efficiency
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with current and potential suppliers; monitor market trends
  • Participate in supply contract renewals and negotiations
  • Maintain regular contact with departments for coordination of purchases and support in problem resolution
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Participate in team recruitment and development
  • Provide work objectives and performance expectations to achieve business plans and production goals
  • Ensure training is in line with current and future mine requirements
  • Ensure workforce and materials align with budgetary structures for production

Qualifications:

  • University degree in a field related to supply management. Candidates with a college diploma in supply management or a certificate from the Canadian Supply Chain Management Association (CSCMA) will be considered based on relevant experience
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in purchasing, logistics, supply chain in an industrial company, including five (5) years in a strategic management position
