Role: Estimator

Status: Permanent – Hybrid

Location: Montreal, QC

Reporting to the Head of Estimating, the Estimator is responsible for managing the procurement process for all assigned projects. Are you an experienced and dynamic leader with a good knowledge of the fundamentals of estimating, an excellent ability to establish relationships with suppliers and clients, and to develop business? Responsibilities:

1. Interpret and understand tender drawings and specifications accurately
2. Perform and/or direct quantity take-offs from tender drawings
3. Develop strategies to create competitive advantage
4. Budget preparation and presentation
5. Detailed and complete calculation of quantities and accurate assessment of costs
6. Tender for subcontractors and suppliers, define and clarify scope, assess risks and submit bids
7. Supervise tendering and awarding of contracts
8. Point of contact and advisor for assigned projects, from initial contact with customer to handover/transfer of project to project team upon contract award
9. Ability to successfully and independently lead a design-build project through to tender, including participation in team meetings
10. Supervision of junior staff
11. Actively participate in business development efforts to identify and track customers and current projects
12. Perform any other duties related to the position

Qualifications:

University degree (technical in civil engineering, construction management, architecture) or bachelor's degree in engineering

Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) designation awarded by CIQS would be an asset

3+ years' experience in a senior estimating role

Experience working with Procore would be an asset

Ability to logically sequence construction work and establish project schedule

Planning, scheduling and organizational skills

Proficiency in computer programs such as bid management and estimating software

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
