The Ministry of Education provides leadership and direction to Saskatchewan's education, early years, library and literacy sectors. The Student Achievement and Supports Branch is seeking an Assessment Consultant for a permanent full-time position.

As an Assessment Consultant, you will be a highly motivated educator with extensive knowledge of Saskatchewan curriculum and assessment practices.

Reporting to the Director of the Assessment Unit, this position is responsible for:

  • Developing, renewing and implementing assessments from Grade 1 to Grade 12.
  • Providing assessment support to school divisions.
  • Conducting research in content areas, effective assessment and assessment philosophy and design.
  • Organizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Liaising and collaborating with the public, organizations, agencies, other departments, branches and department staff to obtain, exchange and confirm information and make informed decisions that reflect educational goals and perspectives.

The successful candidate will be:

  • A self-starter who is positive and confident in their approach to new concepts and tasks, thorough, conscientious and attentive to detail and flexible in order to cope with ongoing changing demands in the workplace.
  • Expected to establish and enhance partnerships with various educational stakeholders and will provide leadership to existing partnerships in promoting curricula in Saskatchewan.
  • Candidates who demonstrate evidence of strong facilitation and consensus-building skills.
  • Experienced teachers in varied settings, grade levels and subjects.

Typically, the knowledge and skills listed below are acquired through a Professional A teaching certificate and a minimum of 5 years of recent teaching experience:

  • A Masters of Education in a related area is an asset.
  • Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
  • Accreditation in English Language Arts is an asset.

The work location is Regina. Some travel is required.
