The Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE) provides the residents of the Northwest Territories with access to quality programs, services and support to assist them in making informed and productive choices for themselves and their families with regard to education, training, careers, employment and labour, child development, languages, culture and heritage.
Job InformationThe Advisor is responsible for the development and maintenance of apprenticeship, trades and occupational standards and certification programs, and associated training programs in response to senior management and industry stakeholders. The incumbent develops, revises and modifies programs, services, policies, procedures, strategies, plans and tools, conducts evaluations and monitors program outcomes to ensure ongoing effective implementation and training programs and standards.
The Advisor is responsible for researching, developing, promoting and distributing materials for industry, unions and workers in the NWT that leads to quality training and certification.
The Advisor leads the improvement and maintenance of processes and programming related to the development of designated trades and occupations training and certification in NWT and throughout Canada. They facilitate working groups that include representatives from industry, education, unions, and workers groups.
The Advisor plays a critical role in communicating with senior managers, engaging industry, training providers and other provincial and federal government departments to ensure that the NWT's high standard of apprenticeship and related training is maintained and enhanced. This is done through participation in federaljprovincialjterritorial working groups, intergovernmental working groups, and attendance at trade fairs, school events and other outreach activities.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: Bachelor's degree in Education, Business or relevant Social Sciences.
Three (3) years' experience in program development, including one (1) year of experience in developing and delivering training programs.

Salary InformationThe salary range for this position is from $53.80 per hour to $64.26 per hour (approximately $104,910 - $125,307.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
