There are lots of places to work, but few opportunities to do work that really matters, and the Y is one of those rare places. When you join our team, you don't just get a job – you'll embark on an exciting path in career development. You will be part of a team that provides children, youth, and adults of all ages a sense of belonging in their community.

The Opportunity

For over thirty years, through our School Settlement program, the YMCA has been supporting the integration and empowerment of newcomer children, youth and families by providing on site settlement support in schools across HRM and around the province.

We are seeking a proactive and creative individual to join our team as a Resource Developer for our School Settlement Program. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in creating, updating and managing tools and resources to enhance the effective implementation of our school settlement services across the province that support newcomer students and families' experience settling into the school system and community.

  • Develop, update, and maintain a centralized database of resources available to support school settlement workers in assisting newcomer students, families and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain online platforms, databases, and repositories to host and disseminate tools, resources, and knowledge products to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate with program leaderships to promote and publicize tools and resources through various channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and conferences
  • Provide training, technical assistance, and support to staff, partners, and stakeholders on the use and application of tools and resources developed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education in a related discipline (i.e. Communications, Graphic Design, Adult Education, Technical Writing, Writing / Editing, Records and Information Management) and 3-5 years of previous experience in developing tools, templates, guidelines, manuals, toolkits, or other resources for organizations or projects that are visually appealing and impactful
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities, particularly in a school or settlement context
  • Strong research, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to synthesize information and develop practical tools and resources
  • Proficiency in using various software tools and platforms for content creation, design, and dissemination. This may include proficiency in Sharepoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and online collaboration platforms
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members, stakeholders, subject matter experts, and end-users to understand needs, gather input, and develop tools and resources that meet the requirements and objectives of the project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and deliverables, and work independently or collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong time management, organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines and tasks

We Offer
