The specific duties of each individual position will vary however they may include the following:

Intent of the process

Immediate need:
- Agassiz, BC - Two (2) indeterminate full-time positions
- Summerland, BC - One (1) position (tenure to be determined)
- Saskatoon, SK - One (1) indeterminate full-time position

A pool of candidates may be created to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures, various bilingual linguistic profiles and security requirements with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada.

Candidates may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies in similar or lower-level positions. Once established, the qualified (or partially qualified) pool will be valid for a period of one (1) year and may be extended.

In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting, deployment, assignment or secondment opportunities.

Candidates may be evaluated further, for specific opportunities, on qualifications (including conditions of employment and operational requirements) that are deemed necessary, whether or not these qualifications have been listed on the job advertisement.

Information you must provide In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education:
Successful completion of two (2) years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience:
Experience in delivering services and advice to managers and clients in one (1) or more of the following areas:
• Finance
• Procurement
• Human Resources
• Administrative Services*

*Administrative services may include but is not limited to: financial management, salary management, document control, records management, procurement and contracting, asset management, mail, fleet management, acquisition cards, and human resources.

Experience providing program or administrative support, in two (2) or more of the following: data entry, analyzing policies or procedures, troubleshooting, providing interpretation to internal or external stakeholders, or other related duties.

Experience providing service to internal or external clients.

Experience in assisting with the preparation of a variety of reports, documents, and correspondence for Management related to finance and/or general administrative correspondence.

The following will be applied / assessed at a later date (essential for the job)

Knowledge:
Basic knowledge of federal government procedures, policies and legislation regarding finances, procurement, and human resources (e.g., FAA, PSEA, TBS policies).

Ability:
Ability to interpret and apply federal government policies or regulations in areas such as finance, travel, fleet, human resources or procurement.

Asset - Education:
Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in business administration, finance, or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Asset Experience:
Experience in the use of common spreadsheet processing software (Excel).

Recent* experience in the use of integrated financial systems such as, but not limited to: SAP.

Experience working with the scientific research community.

Recent* experience coordinating and managing a team that delivers services in the areas of Finance, Travel and/or Procurement.

Experience with various SAP modules or a financial management reporting tool.

Experience providing human resources support services.

Experience or training in providing administrative support services in an office environment for a manager, team, or project.

*Recent is defined as experience gained within the last three (3) years.

Asset - Knowledge:
Knowledge of financial budgeting, planning and reporting to ensure the optimal allocation of financial resources to objectives.

Asset Ability:
Ability to provide advice and services on financial planning, budgeting, reporting including analyzing and reconciling financial data and preparing reports for managers or budget holders.
