The Opportunity:

This management position provides leadership, direction, and continued development of the Electrical Planning section of the Electric Light & Power department. Responsible for the technical, operational, and safety performance of the transmission system, substations, bulk distribution system, and overall system function, the position demonstrates appropriate stewardship of financial and other departmental resources to achieve the section's goals and objectives in delivery of effective service to our customers. As a key member of the department's leadership team, there are ongoing opportunities to represent the department and establish collaborative relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders within the community and other professional and political environments.

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

1. B.Sc. Electrical Engineering
2. Membership in APEGA
3. Eight to ten years of experience in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of electric transmission and distribution systems, with eight years in execution and management of capital and maintenance projects
4. Extensive knowledge and experience in SCADA operation and maintenance
5. Management/supervisory experience with increasing responsibilities
6. Thorough knowledge of Alberta Electric Utility Codes and Regulations
7. Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to function appropriately with field staff, technical personnel, senior management, external stakeholders, and elected officials
8. Demonstrated commitment to training, mentoring, coaching, and team building
9. Collaborative problem-solving and issues resolution
10. Excellent analysis, assessment, and decision-making skills
11. Knowledge of project management practices and principles would be beneficial
12. A valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License with an acceptable driving record

Affiliation: Exempt
Remuneration: $117,406 to $146,757 per annum.
Hours of Work: 80 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
