Job Overview
Heritage Christian Online School (HCOS) is a K-12 Provincial Online Learning School, providing fully accredited, Christian education to students in BC. As one of Western Canada's largest online schools, we connect teachers with families and students to provide guidance and support via personalized, online, and face-to-face options.
HCOS has an opening for a Systems Administrator position working with the Technology Team. This is an onsite position at 40 hours per week. The primary role of this position is to work with the Director of Technology to plan, implement and maintain the infrastructure necessary for Kelowna Christian Center Society's daily operations.
As the Systems Administrator your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Plan, implement and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization technologies, and storage systems
- Plan, implement and maintain network devices such as switches, access points, routers, and firewalls on-site and in remote locations
- Plan, implement and maintain advanced security measures like firewalls, endpoint protection, and VPNs
- Proactively review application and server logs for problems or security concerns
- Manage and monitor backups and disaster recovery procedures
- Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 services, including Office 365, SharePoint, and Exchange
- Monitor and analyze system performance and recommend improvements
- Manage and maintain documentation for all changes, systems and networks
- Provide Tier 2 support for issues submitted via technical support channels
- Other related duties as required
We are looking for someone with the following Qualifications & Skills:
- Demonstrated commitment and lifestyle reflective of KCCS Foundational Beliefs
- 4+ years of applicable experience
- Knowledge of virtualization systems and principles
- Knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and VPN
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to research and learn new skills independently as new challenges arise
- Familiar with DevOps tools for automation, such as Ansible and Puppet
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to learn quickly and master new technologies
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- Have valid Driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
