Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare customs documentation for processing and entry release.
  • Handle general inquiries (internally and externally) over the phone or through electronic communications.
  • Complete files timely, accurately, and in compliance with BorderBuddy and Customs' policies and procedures.
  • Write detailed notes and instructions re: clients, Freight Forwarders, CBSA, Carriers, etc.
  • Maintain client database & update information as necessary.
  • Deal with and resolve difficult situations and client conflicts on a desk-level prior to escalating to the manager.
  • Be able to process B3 entries to meet Company and Canada customs compliance standards.
  • Be able to correct Canada Customs rejected entries independently.
  • Assign correct HS tariff classifications.
  • Cross-sell BorderBuddy's services.
  • Take the Customs Exams when required.
  • Fulfill other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience within a customs brokerage setting, with specific experience in processing all modes of transport.
  • CCS, CTCS designation or other industry related certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, CBSA, Carriers, and Freight Forwarders, etc.
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written).
  • Knowledge and experience with CargoWise and/or CanData is an asset.
  • Enjoys new challenges and working in a fast-paced busy environment.
  • Ability to problem solve proactively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated and hardworking.
  • Strong organizational abilities, flexible, and reliable.
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to grow.
  • Detail oriented, eager to learn and do, resourceful and focused.
  • Minimum Grade 12 graduation; post secondary or business courses in related industry a plus.
Additional Information

Language

  • Preference will be given to bilingual candidates (French and/or Mandarin in particular).

Working Conditions

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.
  • This role is fully remote.
