Assistant Manager of Catering

Management
  • Assist in the planning and execution of catering events, including weddings, corporate functions, and special occasions.
  • Coordinate with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and event details.
  • Ensure all logistical arrangements, such as venue setup, equipment rentals, and catering staff, are organized and executed flawlessly.

Team Member Management:

  • Supervise catering staff, including servers, bartenders, and kitchen assistants.
  • Provide training to new employees and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Schedule staff for events, ensuring adequate coverage and efficient use of resources.

Customer Relations:

  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and address any concerns or special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure that all catering services meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and presentation.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels of catering supplies, equipment, and food items.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of fresh ingredients and necessary supplies.
  • Assist in budgeting and cost control measures to maximize profitability.
  • Track expenses, revenue, and profitability for each catering event.

Health and Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment for staff and guests.
Requirements

Experience

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years previous experience in catering or hospitality management
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven strong customer service experience in the service industry.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in organizational and time management.
  • Problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office.

Certification

  • ProServe Certification or equivalent for alcohol service.
  • Food safety certifications such as ServSafe or equivalent.
  • Any other relevant certifications related to hospitality management or food and beverage operations.
  • Class 5 Drivers License

Other Requirements

  • Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure effectively.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and carrying.
