SUMMARY:

Reports to and works under the direction of the Administrative officer, Provincial Resource Program/Provincial Outreach Program (PRP/POP). Performs accounting and clerical duties to support the accounting, purchasing and budgeting functions of the Provincial Outreach Program for Autism and Related Disorders (POPARD).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a secondary school graduation program or equivalent. Education equivalent to the third level of the CGA/CMA designation or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of five years of recent and related accounting experience, in a computerized financial accounting department, preferable in a public sector environment. The accounting experience should be of an intermediate level with a solid understanding of all aspects of the balance sheet. Knowledge of the principles of public sector purchasing would be an asset.

An advanced level of computer literacy including extensive experience using financial software, spreadsheets, and word processing. Familiarity with statistical software is an asset.

Strong communication skills, to be able to clearly and concisely explain financial and procedural concepts and policies. Demonstrates initiative and is able to work either in a team environment or independently with a minimum of supervision.

Ability to work quickly and accurately with figures and with frequent interruptions. Demonstrates judgment and tact when providing information to internal and external parties. Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.

Physically capable of performing the duties.

Knowledge of WorkSafe BC and WHMIS regulations. Safe work practices.
