About the Role
CASA's Trauma Program nurtures connection and safety in the caregiver-child relationship after experiencing trauma. Children and youth may come into the program via one of three streams: the Outpatient Trauma Clinic, the Trauma and Attachment Group (TAG) or Consultative Services.

The Mental Health Therapist will:

Work with the CASA team and external supports to provide high-quality trauma-focused mental health therapies to children, teens and families.
Build specialized parenting skills for caregivers caring for children with exceptional needs.
Formulate diagnoses as appropriate, using the DSM-5-TR and other diagnostic tools.
Conduct case management functions, including convening case conferences and liaising with CASA therapists and psychiatrists, community services and other professionals involved with the child and family.
Coordinate consultation to others therapists or external stakeholders as appropriate.
Provide supervision or preceptorship for student placements.
Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.

Qualifications
Master's degree in psychology, social work or occupational therapy.
Current registration in good standing with a professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
A minimum of two years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
Demonstrated ability to practice culturally-safe therapeutic interventions.
Knowledge and experience supporting the healing of children and youth who have experienced trauma.
Knowledge and experience in the following therapeutic modalities: EMDR, ART, sensory motor psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, SMART, DBT/CBT and ARC.
Training and experience in play therapy and DBT is considered an asset.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Conditions of Employment
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or exemption on the basis of a protected legal ground.
Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
