Erie Shores HealthCare is recruiting a motived Hospitalist to join our awesome team of physicians!

Nestled in the heart of Leamington, Ontario, Erie Shores HealthCare is a 72-bed acute care community hospital serving the southernmost part of Canada. The community offers an excellent school system, first-class recreational facilities, police and fire services, state of the art healthcare, and community supports, making Leamington an attractive choice for family living, business investment or retirement. Located on the 42nd parallel, Leamington shares the same latitude as northern California. Our winters are the mildest in the county and our summers are long and lingering. Erie Shores HealthCare has a three-bed level II Intensive Care Unit and a three-room Operating Suite. Erie Shores HealthCare is an affiliated teaching site of the Western University Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Our Department

The Hospitalists at Erie Shores HealthCare provide coverage for admissions from the Emergency Department, which operates 24 hours a day and receives over 36,000 annual visits. The Hospitalist team cares for a variety of medical and surgical cases and participates in the care of newborns within our hospital. The Hospitalist Team is supported by a team of collaborative Nurse Practitioners, onsite specialist coverage by Internal Medicine, General Surgery, OB-GYN, Anesthesia, and Radiology, as well as established links to sub-specialty coverage with our regional acute care partners. We have an established REHAB program as well as Home Care Case Coordinators to assist with discharge planning.

The position includes the following:

• Flexible scheduling to allow for full-time, part-time and locum opportunities

Key Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the care of 15-18 inpatients on average from admission to discharge, which includes a blend of acute medical/surgical patients, REHAB patients as well as ALC patients.

• You will be part of a 3-team model sharing call coverage with two other physicians for the week as well as having the support of one nurse practitioner Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

The preferred candidate will have interest and experience in inpatient medicine, is in good standing with the College of Family Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons and is licensed or eligible for license to practice in the Province of Ontario.
