We are embarking on a multi-year growth strategy, and are seeking an experienced:

Staffing Clerk

Full-Time; 1 Year Contract

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Staffing Clerk functions as a key team member and is responsible for staffing multiple departments within Perley Health. The Staffing Clerk will work professionally in a team-focused environment, upholding the vision, mission, goals and objectives of Perley Health, while adhering to all policies and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains staffing schedules for various departments within the budget while adhering to union agreements.
Arranges for staff replacement for sick leave, statutory holidays, leaves of absence and special projects requiring staff replacement.
Compiles staffing pattern trends if requested.
Processes changes of schedule and maintains a file of these for all nursing staff.
Receives staffing related calls, completes call logs and processes information appropriately.
Notifies resident care units of staff who have called in ill or absent and identifies the name of the replacement.
Provides daily updates to Registered Nurses with availability of nursing staff to cover sick calls for nightshifts and weekend staffing needs.
Prepares all documents and information for weekend staffing that is required by the Registered Nurses.
Screens other incoming calls and refers to the appropriate person.
Remains abreast of nursing staff on modified duties, long term illness and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and processes information related to this.
Provides information to the managers concerning staffing trends.
Remains up to date on all emergency procedures including fire, disaster and emergency administration person on call.
Adheres to facility safety regulations and makes every effort to work in a safe, hazard-free environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Secondary School preferred.
Knowledge of staffing schedules (preferred).
One (1) year related previous experience.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of collective agreements and their interpretation.
Excellent interpersonal skills required to communicate with staff at all levels in the organization, volunteers, visitors, members of the public and job applicants with tact, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality.
Detail oriented, able to follow processes accurately and precisely, often under tight deadlines.
Able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
