Overview:
We are looking for a Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence (NSWOC). The NSWOC will provide wound and ostomy consultation for patients in the clinic and community. If you enjoy caring for a broad range of clients with a variety of wound etiologies and wound care modalities this is the job for you. In addition to make full use of your wound and ostomy care knowledge, each day you will use your skills in promoting self-management by patients and leading the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise in the management of wounds and ostomies will be sought out by individual practitioners and the various committees and organizations that guide wound care in the region.
CarePartners will provide you with an in-depth orientation to both the agency and wound/ostomy care in the community; ongoing clinical support including online access to clinical expertise; an iPad and the equipment you need to conduct assessments.
We are looking for Nurses with NSWOC certification who desire great flexibility in their schedules.
This is a Part-Time position in the Owen Sound area.

What The Role Involves:
Using your knowledge of assessment, prevention and interventions regarding wound infections and ostomy care
Care for patients with consuming wounds, ostomy, continence, provide lower leg assessment including ABPIs
critically appraising the wound care literature and apply research evidence to practice
Providing classifications and indications, appropriate utilization to reduce visit frequency and obtain desired outcomes
Practicing conservative sharp wound debridement (CSWD) and use of other debridement methods
Providing edema management including bandaging based on complete lower leg assessment
Monitoring criteria for adjunctive therapy for complex or recalcitrant wounds
Supporting our patient's safety by practicing according to policy and standards
Using your professional assessment skills to perform a thorough holistic assessment of each client and identify the client's needs by utilizing information from the client, caregiver(s), the home environment, the Home and Community Care Support Services (HCCSS) referral and other sources
Functioning as a member of a nursing team who are accountable for the nursing care it provides
Developing appropriate time-specific, measurable goals and outcomes in collaboration with the client and/or caregiver(s), and in keeping with the HCCSS goal for treatment
What You Bring:
Registered Nurse (RN) diploma
Current College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) registration in good standing
Graduate of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy & Continence Canada (NSWOCC, formerly CAET), CNA exam may be pending
Several years of escalating experience managing wounds and ostomies
A strong desire and commitment to making a difference in the lives of our patients
Exceptional interpersonal skills
A valid driver's license and vehicle as regular travel is required
Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
CPR Certification
Current immunization record including 2 step TB test
To protect our patients, we require a current vulnerable sector check and a clear background check
