POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Licensed Practical Nurse team administers medication and ensures that resident records are kept up to date in the computer system. They respond to emergencies and work closely with the care team and other departments (kitchen, dining room, maintenance, reception, etc.). Permanent part-time position, 16 hours per week at 8 hours per day, Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 8pm.

ROLE AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer medication safely, according to current professional standards.
  • Building a lasting relationship of trust with residents and their families
  • Communicating effectively with residents, their families and external stakeholders (CLSC, CISSS, pharmacists)
  • Detect and report quickly any changes in residents' health status
  • Document the care provided accurately, in accordance with OIIAQ standards
  • Ensure rigorous monitoring of medical records and prescriptions
  • To actively contribute to the daily well-being of a community of senior citizens
  • To collaborate closely with the healthcare team and other departments to provide quality care

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Collect degree in nursing (DEC) or a proffesional studies dimploma (DEP) in health care assistance, nursing
  • Member of the OIIAQ
  • Up to date CPR / AED training certificates
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years experience
  • Discretion and respect for confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of retirement homes, a major asset
  • Good sense of interpersonal communication
  • Good communication
