Job Summary
Foster Kia is seeking a reliable and motivated Automotive Service Technician Apprentices to join our automotive service team in Scarborough, Ontario. The successful candidate will assist experienced automotive technicians with the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of cars, light trucks, and other motor vehicles while developing practical skills in accordance with established automotive service procedures and safety standards.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Automotive Service Technician Apprentice will perform the following:
Assist automotive service technicians with the inspection, maintenance, servicing, and repair of motor vehicles.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance and service procedures under the direction of qualified technicians.
Assist with oil and filter changes, lubrication, tire service, brake service, battery service, and other preventive maintenance.
Inspect vehicle components and systems to identify signs of wear, damage, leaks, or malfunction.
Assist in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment and established procedures.
Remove, replace, and install automotive components such as brake components, batteries, filters, belts, hoses, bulbs, and other parts as directed.
Assist with the repair and servicing of engines, transmissions, steering systems, suspension systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, fuel systems, and other vehicle components.
Assist technicians in testing vehicle systems and components after repairs to verify proper operation.
Follow repair orders, service procedures, manufacturer specifications, and workplace instructions.
Use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, and other automotive service equipment safely and appropriately.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, inspections, and service recommendations.
Identify and report additional vehicle maintenance or repair requirements to the supervising technician.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
Handle tools, equipment, automotive parts, fluids, and materials in accordance with workplace and environmental procedures.
Participate in on-the-job training and develop the technical skills required for progression of Skilled Trade Ontario.
Perform other related automotive service duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Secondary school completion or Training Certifications, Apprenticeship trainings or equivalent
Enrollment in, or willingness and ability to participate in, an automotive service technician apprenticeship program.
Preferably at least two years experience in an automotive repair service environment
Basic knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and maintenance procedures is an asset.
Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
Ability to follow technical instructions, service procedures, and safety requirements.
Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, lifting automotive parts and equipment, and working in a shop environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Ability to work independently when assigned tasks and cooperate effectively with other technicians and service staff.
Valid driver's licence is an asset.
