Analyst - Distribution Systems, Business process

Our expectations

Reporting to the Manager, Business Processes & Systems - Distribution, the Senior Analyst plays a pivotal role in improving, stabilizing, and optimizing the systems and processes used across RONA's distribution network. Leveraging strong operational experience and deep knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), this role identifies high value improvement opportunities, supports system evolution, and ensures strong adoption of changes across all distribution centers. Analyst acts as a trusted partner to DC Directors and Operations Managers, supporting governance routines, providing data driven insights, and ensuring that system and process improvements are grounded in real operational needs.

Your Role

Operational Expertise & System Optimization

  • Apply hands-on experience in distribution center operations to evaluate how WMS, LMS, YMS, and automation tools support daily activities.

  • Identify improvement opportunities that deliver the highest operational impact (productivity, accuracy, throughput, safety).

  • Recommend system configuration changes or business process adjustments based on a deep understanding of warehouse operations and workflows.

  • Act as a functional expert on WMS operations, ensuring system design aligns with operational realities and constraints.

Influence, Credibility & Change Adoption

  • Use operational credibility to build trust with DC teams and secure buy in for proposed changes.

  • Translate complex system concepts into clear, practical explanations that resonate with frontline and leadership teams.

  • Support DC Directors and Operations Managers in understanding the benefits, impacts, and expected outcomes of system or process changes.

  • Act as a change ambassador, helping teams' transition smoothly to new ways of working.

Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze operational data, system logs, and process flows to identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvement opportunities.

  • Conduct root cause analyses on recurring system or process issues and propose corrective and preventive actions.

  • Support the standardization of system enabled processes across all DCs.

  • Contribute to the development of best practices and operational standards.

Governance Support & Performance Follow-up

  • Support the Manager in preparing, structuring, and animating governance forums with DC Directors and Operations Managers.

  • Promote accurate dashboards, KPIs, and follow up tools to support System and process improvement initiatives and governance routines.

  • Track action plans, system issues, process deviations, and improvement initiatives to ensure accountability and progress.

  • Provide clear, concise updates and recommendations on Business process and configuration improvements.

Stabilization & Issue Resolution

  • Lead the analysis of complex topics on system configurations & operational process escalated from Analysts, Specialists, or operations teams.

  • Coordinate with IT, product teams, and SMEs to validate issues/incidents, define solutions, ensure and monitor timely resolution.

  • Monitor system performance and proactively identify risks to operational stability.

  • Validate that fixes, enhancements, and new functionalities are properly integrated into operations.

Project Participation & Operational Readiness

  • Coordinate in system enhancement projects, automation deployments, slotting initiatives, and facility transformations.

  • Gather operational requirements and ensure they are accurately reflected in system design and testing.

  • Ensure proper sign-off and quality for team deliverables, requirement collection, UAT, training materials, and change management activities.

  • Act a process owner to guaranty new system features or processes are operationally viable and stable for post-deployment.

Documentation & Standardisation

  • Provide expectations review enhance documentation system enabled processes, workflows, and operational standards.

  • Map current state and future state processes, highlighting system touchpoints and dependencies.

  • Ability to deliver impact risk and mitigation analysis - Ability to build and provide business cases

  • Lead & get the final sign off from operations on SOP development and ensure alignment across all DCs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Information Systems, or related field is considered an asset.

  • 10 + years' experience in distribution with 3-5 years of experience as a leader in operations management, including WMS usage, and continuous improvement roles.

  • Strong experience with WMS (Blue Yonder, Exceed, or equivalent) is required.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of WMS key elements of productivity and its impact on operational performance on the different life cycle of the integration of the process .

  • Proficiency in process mapping and documentation tools (Visio or equivalent).

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret the operational levers and system impacts

  • Strong Ability to translate (communicate concise, synthetize) operational needs into system requirements.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, especially with senior operational leaders.

  • Ability to support and co animate Business process and System monthly governances with DC Directors and Operations Managers.

  • High credibility with operations teams; able to influence without authority.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Comfortable working in fast paced, high volume distribution environments.

  • Ability to travel within Canada 20% of the time required

  • Based in Milton (Ontario) or Calgary (Alberta)
