Location: Delta, BC (Hybrid after 90-days, minimum 3 days per week in office)
Department: Drayage Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager
Job Type: Full Time (50 hours per week)

Position Overview

The Logistics Planner & Dispatcher is responsible for the coordinated planning and execution of day-to-day drayage operations. This role is central to achieving high on-time performance, driver efficiency, and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will manage shipment tracking, dispatch execution, appointment scheduling, and communication with drivers, vendors, and customers.

Ideal candidates will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and problem-solve in a fast-paced logistics environment.

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Dispatch Coordination

Create and execute daily dispatch plans to ensure timely, cost-effective service.
Optimize fleet utilization, reduce travel distances, and minimize operational costs.
Monitor load statuses, system updates, and performance metrics throughout the day.
Coordinate with dispatch team and owner-operators to assign and confirm loads.

Shipment & Appointment Management

Track and trace all shipments using internal systems and customer portals.
Schedule and manage appointments with customers, shippers, and receivers.
Confirm rail pick-up numbers and secure RVs as needed.
Manage bond load documentation and ingate planning to minimize delays and costs.

Communication & Customer Service

Act as the point of contact for customers, owner-operators, and internal teams.
Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and system portals with timely updates.
Ensure all accessorial charges are pre-approved by customers and recorded accurately.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain system accuracy across internal and customer-facing platforms.
Review and approve driver sheets to confirm appropriate rates and documentation.
Verify vendor invoices against purchase order records and ensure timely processing.
Support reporting and analysis of KPIs for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

2-3 years of experience in logistics planning, dispatch, or transportation coordination.
Familiarity with owner-operator models, rail logistics, and drayage operations.
Proficiency with logistics systems (e.g., TMS or TAK System) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred

Knowledge of accessorial charges, bond load handling, and vendor management.
Associate's degree in logistics, business, or related field.
Relevant certifications in logistics, dispatch, or supply chain management (e.g., CLTD, CPIM).
