Summary
We are seeking an Occupational Health Technician to join our team at Sprung Instant Structures. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce by implementing occupational health programs and promoting a safe working environment. This position is essential to our commitment to employee well-being and operational excellence.
Duties and responsibilities
Review, evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to prevent, control and eliminate accidents and occupational injuries. Inspect the workplace environments, equipment and practices to ensure compliance with organization and government environment, health and safety standards and regulations.
Ensure the safety of all employees, contractors, customers and visitors while adhering to all government safety related regulations.
Coordinate planning, administration, training and enforcement of the site's Health and Safety program to ensure compliance with all company policies, local and provincial legislation.
Identify hazards and assess health and safety, involving others to identify the appropriate safety controls.
Provide directions on accident prevention and workplace health to the Safety Director and workers.
Acts & Regulations
Identify and manage compliance with all site and governmental safety requirements and legislations
Resolve site safety discrepancies through identifying issues, reporting items to leadership, spearheading and rectifying issues in a timely manner.
Compile safety record data for various required agencies, including: OHS, ISO, etc.
Employee Interaction & Direction
Chair Safety Committee, including implementation of group's recommendations, regularly communicating needs and issues discovered to upper management.
Coordinate safety training program implementation, including WHMIS, emergency evacuation, hazard assessments, JSAs, equipment operation, etc.
Incident Response
Thoroughly investigate all safety incidences from the critical to near misses, reporting findings to the Safety Director.
Administer procedures to reduce reoccurrences.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
Safety certification
Extensive communication skills to ensure safety mandates are clear
The ability to lead and direct all levels of employees in safety practices and procedures
Confidence in the knowledge and experience gained
Working conditions
Conditions for this position include both indoor and outdoor work.
Physical requirements
This position may require the repetitive action of computer work, but also requires having the ability to walk the entirety of the building and shop yard to complete tasks
