This position is located within the Mussel Stripping team and reports directly to the Stripping Supervisor.
The employee is responsible for safe operation of the stripping equipment to remove the mussels from the socks and placing the stripped mussels in tanks for movement. The stripping crew helps out in the other areas of production as required.
Stripping Crew members are responsible to know and follow all Safety, C-TPAT, sanitation and Employee hygiene guidelines. The stripping crew serves as members of the clean-up crew.
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Arrive in time to properly gear up and be at the work area for the start of processing
2. Operate the stripping equipment in a safe, productive manner.
3. Responsible for stripping mussels a manner that will not unnecessarily stress the
mussels.
4. It is important to strip mussels using proper procedures for the reduced chance of
personal injury. This includes keeping all body parts out of moving or operating
equipment.
5. Responsible to return any mussels that have fallen to the floor back on to the
conveyers ASAP.
6. Responsible to remove all socks, starfish, crabs, club or ciona tunicates, as the
mussels move along the stripping table
7. Stripped mussels are placed into clean holding tanks to the proper level
Remain alert and work safely.
9. Understands and follows all AAF policies and procedures, including but not limited
to, Safety, Uniform and PPE, Sanitation, Employee Hygiene, GMPs, and C-TPAT
policies and procedures.
10. Reports food safety concerns, employee safety issues, and equipment deficiencies to a
person of authority for corrective action.
11. Any other duties as required by the Holding/stripping Supervisor or Plant Manager.
