_ KCL Cattle Company Ltd. is a growing, innovative, and disciplined farm and cattle operation in the Lethbridge, and Coaldale, Alberta area. _

_ We are seeking an experienced Pen Checker to join our team! _

_ You must have a minimum of 2 years experience as a Pen Rider to be considered for this role! _

Position Overview:
Mandatory minimum 2 years of experience Pen Riding , working with livestock, or in animal health related profession.
Maintain health and welfare of cattle and perform disease prevention activities.
Riding Pens to identify, remove, and treat sick or injured cattle in a low stress handling manner.
Partnering with KCL's veterinarian to ensure cattle are treated appropriately.
Maintain precise records of all cattle treatments to ensure compliance and safe shipment readiness.

Primary Responsibilities:
Keep an accurate head inventory in hospital pens
Pen management (ensure feed bunks in hospitals always have good feed quality and hay if needed)
Daily assessment of cattle condition in hospital pens
Communicate to Manager any irregularities with cattle
Take direction from Supervisors and help in any other areas
Keep barn and chute clean and tidy
Assist in general labor jobs such as fixing fences and washing equipment
Clear pens of rocks and other debris
Assist with loading, moving, sorting and processing cattle
Working with a team to ensure efficient and top quality care for cattle
Horse care
Adhere to company policies and procedures
Care for own horses
Other duties as instructed

Treatment Barn (Hospital):
Maintain cleanliness & tidiness of treatment barns
Clean tools regularly (including syringes, squeeze, thermometer, calving chains, bloat tubes, needles, etc.)

Qualifications:
Valid drivers license - Class 1 is an asset!
Must have strong livestock husbandry skills, possessing both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of animal science.
Bachelor's degree in animal science, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Science, or a closely related field is an asset.
Posses' knowledge of common diseases within cattle in feedlot setting.
Good horsemanship skills.
Experience with operating farm equipment (loader, tractor, skid steer, etc.
Basic Computer Skills
Good attitude - Must be a Team Player
Strong communication skills
Self-Motivated
