The John McGivney Children's Centre provides family-centered paediatric therapy services in the Windsor-Essex County community, enriching the lives of children and youth with special needs by helping them reach their full potential. Reporting to the Autism Supervisor the Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) acts as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide a range of treatment services to children, youth and their families at JMCC and in community-based environments. They support the Supervisor in the development and implementation of Autism programming in addition to their BCBA responsibilities.
The BCBA is responsible for participating in the development and implementation of Autism programming, and contributing to treatment planning. They will assist in the development, facilitation, and training in Applied Behaviour Analysis, using natural environment training models of teaching. They also assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools to conduct functional assessments and analyses. They develop appropriate behaviour strategies and provide ongoing support and training to direct support professionals, ABA implementers and other individuals in support roles for families. In addition to working directly with children with Autism, they will develop behaviour plans and treatment plans for all consumers with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behaviours. They will participate and support transitions for clients as required, and evaluate and assess clients using appropriate data measures and curriculum. They will support the Autism Supervisor by developing strong working relationships with colleagues, specialists and community partners; and assist in the development and implementation of resources material for families.
Qualifications:
The qualified candidate will have a Master's degree in psychology or other health or social sciences field, and hold a current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA ) credential, and be registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and be in good standing. They will have a minimum of two years of supervised direct clinical experience with children and youth of various ages with varied profiles and diagnosis. They will have strong leadership and coaching skills, as well as strong written and oral communication skills. They will have the ability to share expertise in ways that are understandable; and be able to establish rapport with families. The candidate will also have strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel), and have a current certification in First Aid and CPR. Proficiency in French language considered an asset. They must have a valid Ontario driver's license and access to a vehicle. The qualified candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; must be able to work independently, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must be available to work flexible hours, as required.
