Public Engagement and Development Manager

Location: Creston, Cranbrook, Invermere, or Fernie

Hours: 35 hours/week

Accountability: Executive Director

Reports: Marketing Coordinator As a key member of the Senior Management Team, the

Public Engagement and Development Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding and diversifying KES' revenue streams while powerfully communicating the organization's impact and future opportunities to key audiences. This role oversees the Marketing and Communications team and works closely with senior leadership to design and implement a new revenue diversification strategy. This is a highly collaborative position that engages staff, stakeholders, and the public to identify and pursue new investments, ensuring they align with current and future initiatives, support KES' mission, and are both financially and operationally sustainable. The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of securing funding from diverse sources, including foundations, corporations, government, and individual donors. They will be a compelling communicator, both in writing and in person, and experienced in engaging audiences through social media and other public platforms. This newly created role represents a strategic opportunity to shape and strengthen the sustainability of the organization. Resource Development Responsibilities:

Identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
Maintain a calendar of funding opportunities deadlines and reporting requirements; alert key staff of approaching opportunities and deadlines.
Write compelling grant proposals, expressions of interest, and other supporting documents.
Work with senior leadership to align new funding with strategic priorities.
In collaboration with key staff, develop a revenue diversification strategy and be part of its implementation as it pertains to the role.
Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors.

Marketing and Communications Responsibilities:

Oversee the implementation of the Marketing and Communications strategy.
Lead Marketing and Communications team, ensuring staff are supported and achieving outcomes.
Ensure KES is represented accurately and well across social media platforms.
Leverage social media platforms to reach and engage KES stakeholders, including program participants, partners, funders and potential donors.
Ensure accurate and timely updates to KES controlled websites.
Review and approve public facing materials for accuracy and readability.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to the role. While not required, a Master's degree is advantageous.
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a nonprofit setting, with demonstrated involvement in fund development activities.
2+ years of experience managing professional staff.
Demonstrated ability attracting new investment to an organization.
Ability to work with standard office technologies, including productivity software, communication tools, and digital collaboration platforms.

Travel: This role requires some travel. Work Environment: In office at either Creston, Cranbrook, Invermere or Fernie. Eligible under the Flexible Work Arrangement policy for one day per week of remote work after completing one year of employment.
