Reporting to the Controller the Accounting Clerk performs clerical duties and ensures accuracy of financial records. The Accounting Clerk is responsible for reconciling accounts payable and receivable accounts, balancing department budgets, invoicing clients, ensuring prompt payment of invoices and developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial filing system for our firm.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Enter and balance accounts receivable and payable daily.
Track deposits made to bank and handle deposit transfers.
Monitor credit card charges, payment discrepancies, refunds, returns and miscellaneous charges.
Reconcile department accounts monthly.
Enter payments into accounting system.
Completing cheque runs.
Processing EFTs.
General administrative tasks
Skills, Abilities and Educational Background
Completion of high school or equivalency.
3 years administrative experience.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures.
MS Office and knowledge of accounting software.
Commitment to provide excellent client service with an open attitude to working with a diverse population.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
Attention to detail.
Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English.
