Coldstream Helicopters Ltd. is a commercial helicopter operator headquartered at the Kelowna International Airport, with multiple operational bases and a fleet of approximately 10-15 helicopters. We serve a diverse range of sectors, including firefighting, emergency services, heli-skiing, powerline and construction.

We are currently seeking a full-time Finance Technician to join our finance team; this role focuses primarily on Accounts Payable and provides support across various accounting and bookkeeping functions for multiple companies.

Compensation will be determined commensurate with knowledge, skills and ability, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

General Overview

The Finance Technician plays a key role in the financial operations of Coldstream and its affiliated companies. Under the supervision of the Controller, this position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records predominately within the Payables ledgers and performs a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and administrative functions. As this position encompasses multiple companies and multiple currencies, it requires a high degree of knowledge and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain the Accounts Payable ledger
Provide general bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative support to the Finance Department
Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, sub-ledgers, bank and credit card (e.g., Visa) statements, and other financial accounts related to Payables
Match purchase orders and work orders to incoming invoices
Review, verify, code, and process accounts payable transactions
Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and outstanding payables
Process staff expense reports and timesheets accurately and in a timely manner and liaise with staff accordingly
Perform data entry and accounting-related research as required
Maintain organized financial records; complete general accounting administrative tasks such as filing
Liaise closely with purchasing team and external vendors to ensure smooth financial operations
Perform other accounting and clerical duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO
Support Coldstream management across a variety of accounting-related tasks

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited accounting diploma or certificate program preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting or bookkeeping
Familiarity with network-based accounting systems; experience with Sage/Simply Accounting is considered an asset
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and other accounting software tools
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial data entry and self review
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and discretion with confidential information
A willingness to learn and the ability to adapt are essential

Required Licenses/Certificates

Valid BC Driver's License required.
