Position Summary
As the first line of leadership, the Dispatcher serves as the direct point of contact for the team of delivery drivers. The Dispatcher plays a key role in managing the day-to-day operational requirements of the business. The successful candidate will have exceptional communication skills to provide clear direction and guidance. The Dispatcher is the "go to" person to help minimize or remove barriers to support drivers in meeting on-time delivery service standards.
PURPOSE
The Dispatcher serves as the direct point of contact for a group of Vendors. The Dispatcher plays a key role in managing the day-to-day operational requirements of the business. The Dispatcher is the "go to" person to help minimize or remove barriers to support Vendors in meeting on-time delivery service standards.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Lead and dispatch a group of Vendors who are responsible for following SOPs and delivery protocols
Assign and monitor routes, and coordinate rescue plans as necessary
Encourage and advocate safe driving practices
Manage Vendor's routes based on the company needs
Compile daily, weekly, monthly reporting as necessary
Ensure vehicle inspection reports are precise and complete
Audit vehicles as necessary
Assist the Operations Manager as needed
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum one (1) year experience routing and dispatching a fleet of drivers
Minimum two (2) year experience in a customer service-oriented role
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Strong computer literacy required, particularly Microsoft Office/Excel
Post-secondary education in transportation, operations or logistics an asset
Previous experience with scheduling is an asset
