Community Based Sexual Violence Services Systems Navigator/Advocate

Position Summary

Responsible to the Community Based Sexual Violence Services (CBSVS) Committee, the Systems Navigator/Advocate will work with community stakeholders and networks to support the implementation of community-based specialized sexual violence services. Using a survivor-centered, trauma-informed community model, activities will involve the identification of needs, issues, resources and gaps relating to the support of adults of all genders affected by sexual violence and prevention of sexual violence.

This is a full-time (37.5 hours), term position subject to funding (up to 3 years), job performance and meeting minimum qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

Actively seek opportunities to collaborate with service providers and networks also working in the sector

Collaborate with other community organizations, government partners, and networks and seek opportunities for growth and new initiatives

Develop and implement a plan for new sexual violence services, including defining roles

Complete evaluation and other reports as required

Coordinate with counselors and/or other allied health

Duties and responsibilities may expand as position evolves

Qualifications

Possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field with 2 years of experience or 2 years of post-secondary education and 5 years of relevant experience with target populations

Knowledge of gender-based violence, particularly sexual violence inclusive of all genders; feminist principles, and a demonstrated commitment to the eradication of gender-based violence

Written and spoken competence in English; Spoken French an asset

Excellent networking skills and demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with community members and organizations

Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, community development and organizational skills

Excellent analytic, research and problem solving skills

Experience in an office environment and using office technology

Experience using social media to be considered an asset

Self-directed, takes initiative, creative and adaptable; able to work in a team and independently

Possesses a current clear Criminal Record Check including a negative vulnerable sector check

Valid driver's license, $2,000,000 car insurance coverage, and reliable transportation

Ability to work flexible hours
