Food and Beverage Manager

Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre Inc. is currently seeking a Full Time Food and Beverage Manager to join our team!

The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and execution of food service operations at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. This includes managing the in-house quick service outlet, overseeing internal catering operations for events ranging from small to large-scale events, and providing oversight and support to on-site franchise operations (Tim Hortons, Booster Juice, Pizza Pizza).

The Manager also leads strategic planning, performance analytics, and concept development to align food and beverage operations with Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre's broader goals in customer experience, financial sustainability, and operational excellence. This includes developing and managing alternative service points such as kiosks, pop-ups, and mobile units with a mandate to expand footprint and revenue. The Manager ensures that all services meet high standards of quality, safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Performance is measured by revenue growth, cost control, and client satisfaction.

The key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Leadership and Planning

Align food and beverage objectives with organizational goals and strategic direction.

Develop annual operating and capital budgets for food and beverage functions.

Build and maintain a multi year business plan that drives revenue, margin, and guest experience targets.

Support concept and capital projects; manage annual operating and capital budgets.

Use Point of Sale (POS), inventory, and guest feedback analytics to fine tune menus, labour budgets, and pricing.

Staffing and Training

Recruit, onboard, and develop a high performing team.

Establish clear performance standards, embed accountability, and create cross training opportunities.

Develop staff schedules that support multiple service models.

Lead food safety and customer service training initiatives.

Foster a service-first, team-centered culture built around recognition and accountability and promotes professional growth.

Operational Oversight

Direct daily operations in self operated, franchised, and shared spaces, ensuring health code compliance and franchise brand standards.

Schedule and monitor sanitation, pest control, preventive maintenance, and equipment repairs.

Conduct regular audits of food safety, cash handling, inventory rotation, and waste control.

Event Catering

Serve as primary contact for catering clients

Scope, price, and deliver catering programs within firm budgets and timelines.

Support sponsorship activations and VIP hospitality with tailored food service solutions.

Menu Development and Innovation

Lead menu design and seasonal refreshes for quick service, catering, kiosks, and pop-ups.

Balance creativity with cost control, nutritional considerations, and operational feasibility.

Collaborate with suppliers to introduce quality products and improve margins.

Alternate Service points

Assist in the planning and executing of kiosks, carts, and pop-ups; identify new service points to extend food and beverage beyond the main food court.

Ensure consistent service, financial performance, and guest satisfaction across all non-traditional outlets.

Financial Management

Manage the food service Proft & Loss, including food, labour, and overhead costs.

Negotiate supplier contracts and maintain vendor scorecards to track price, quality, and delivery performance.

Track capital assets and coordinate replacements with Building Operations.

Guest Experience and Quality Assurance

Introduce customer satisfaction tracking tools, including feedback forms and mystery guest programs, to continuously refine service delivery.

Champion consistent, high-quality service across every touchpoint.

Health and Safety Compliance

Ensure compliance with all municipal, provincial, and federal health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Promote Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre's waste diversion, recycling, and sustainability goals.

Lead emergency preparedness and food safety training.

Conduct food safety audits and enforce allergen control procedures in line with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles.

Technology and Systems Oversight

Oversee use of Point-of-Sale and inventory systems to ensure accurate reporting, integration with operations, and user compliance.

Implement technology solutions such as digital menus, self-service kiosks, and guest feedback apps.

Generate weekly dashboards tracking financial, operational, and customer service performance.

Cross-Departmental and Stakeholder Collaboration

Collaborate with the senior leadership team on budget planning, operational performance, and capital investment priorities.

Support sponsorship and marketing initiatives through themed food and beverage programs.

Engage with community partners, food suppliers, and event organizers to foster collaborative programs and community engagement.

Risk Management and Asset Protection

Maintain contingency plans for equipment downtime, product recalls, and unplanned service interruptions; align preventive maintenance schedules and equipment audits with Facilities.

Enforce secure cash handling and inventory control protocols; monitor alcohol service compliance and other duties as assigned.

What we need from you:

Diploma or degree in Food & Beverage Management, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field.

Five to seven years of leadership in multi outlet or high-volume food service, including franchise integration and large-scale catering.

Advanced food safety certification (e.g., Advanced.fst)

Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C certification.

Demonstrated success in menu development, budget management, and team culture building.

Proficiency with POS, inventory, and labour scheduling systems.

Experience in sport venues, recreation facilities, or other large public complexes is an asset.

The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
