Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking a Coordinator, Logistics to work out of our office in St. Albert, Alberta. This role is responsible for meeting customer needs by ensuring stock availability, optimizing value, and resolving logistics issues. The role involves engaging and collaborating with vendors, customers, associations, agents, and internal Alberta-Pacific teams to maintain a consistent supply and high-quality service and product. The successful candidate also supports the Supply Chain Division in achieving or exceeding overall business objectives.

Role Responsibilities

Transportation & Distribution

  • Communicate and coordinate with production, 3PL's, and supply chain vendors to ensure customers' orders are transported and distributed in a profitable and customer centric manner.
  • Conducts physical inventories, cycle counts, asset validations and reconciliation procedures to ensure accuracy of inventory.
  • Coordinates the flow of goods during supply chain constraints.

External Stakeholder Relations

  • Maintain and be involved with strategic relationships to leverage Alberta-Pacific's customer value proposition and premium brand.
  • Support fair and transparent negotiations to optimize shipping lanes, obtain cost certainty, and gain favourable terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate inventory and shipments based on sales and production forecasts to meet customer demands and manage costs/targets.
  • Coordinate the implementation of contingency plans for unplanned business disruptions to minimize adverse impacts.

Documentation & Processes

  • Support systems, processes, workflow, and tools to ensure uninterrupted and cost-effective delivery to customers.
  • Process and ensure documentation requirements are met to ensure a free flow of products in timely and error free manner.
  • Process shipments based on the shipping terms, insurance terms, etc.

Negotiating & Contracting

  • Recommend terms and conditions to ensure optimized supply chain (e.g. costs, reliability, etc.) of getting product to customers.
  • Recommend inventory levels to ensure reliable flow of inventory.

Insights & Reporting

  • Utilize market information, and resources to engage with all stakeholders to support the capitalization on planned and unplanned market or industry events and trends.
  • Ensure shipments are processed accurately to allow for accurate and timely compiling of data to support negotiating positions.
  • Ensure shipments are processed to allow for compiling of data and to support the team in meeting the key performance indicators to report on success of Logistics.

Innovation

  • Collect information and data of innovative approaches to optimize the supply chain to support the creation of new solutions and opportunities and reduce costs without sacrificing customer care.
  • Understand vendor systems to leverage opportunities to create efficiencies and improve customer service.
  • Develop and maintain a network of traditional and non-traditional contacts to enhance innovation.
  • Continually improve the SAP system.

Internal Stakeholder Relations

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to maintain and grow knowledge sharing between departments to build cohesive internal relations to eliminate redundancies and create efficiencies.
  • Engage with internal and external auditors and ensure Team members have documents required to answer the inquiries.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer within the team is timely, provide support to team members.

Role Requirements

  • 3-5 years' progressive experience in Transportation, Logistics, Sales Coordination, Customer Service, or Supply Chain Management is required.
  • Business Diploma in Transportation, Logistics, Inventory Management, or Supply Chain Management OR Diploma in non-supply chain related courses combined with 5 years' experience in Logistics/supply chain as a coordinator is required.
  • Experience working in a CRM (or transportation) information system or ERP.
  • Experience in inventory planning / management, supply chain concepts, and related methodologies.
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Other

  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Knowledge and understanding of supply chains: including, but not limited to carriers such as railways, trucking, and shipping.
  • Utilize emotional intelligence and integrity to deliver customer centric solutions.

  • Communicative, a persuasive and articulate speaker, writer, and presenter.
