Position Summary:

Our client, a leading organization in the Edmonton market is seeking a highly experienced Senior Web Developer to join their team. This role is critical for designing, developing, and testing advanced software solutions while providing leadership and mentorship to junior developers.

The ideal candidate will bring their expertise in modern web technologies, scalable systems, and secure platforms while contributing to a collaborative team environment focused on innovation.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of advanced web applications with user-centric interfaces and robust backend systems.
• Develop, review, and enforce high-quality, efficient, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers through code reviews and technical support.
• Integrate server-side logic with front-end functionality for seamless user experiences.
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose technical solutions, and define project objectives.
• Identify and resolve complex software issues, prioritizing scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Drive architectural discussions and decisions for web applications and related systems.
• Implement strategies to optimize performance, maintain security, and ensure solutions' longevity.
• Stay updated with the latest trends in web development, introducing innovative practices when relevant.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and updates.
• Manage and deliver multiple projects within deadlines, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Provide occasional after-hours support during critical updates or problem resolution.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field-or demonstrable equivalent experience in software development.
• Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in web application development.
• Proficiency with frameworks and technologies like Node.js, Next.js, React, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Deep knowledge of Agile development and DevOps concepts and practices.
• Solid experience in building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with modern cloud-based services, particularly Azure.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Proven problem-solving and debugging skills, with the ability to address complex challenges.
• Leadership and mentorship experience, with the ability to support junior and mid-level teammates effectively.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills complemented by collaboration in cross-functional teams.
• Fluent in English with demonstrated excellence in both verbal and written communication.
• Successful completion of background checks (e.g., criminal, credit, education, and employment references) prior to employment.
