Job Description
The Office of MP Olszewski is currently looking to staff the position of Communications Assistant.
In this role, you will be responsible for all social media communication and branding related activities for the Office of MP Olszewski. You will create and manage content, develop communication and marketing strategies, and help with outreach for events and news for the community.
Primary responsibilities:
- Prepare news releases and organize press conferences and other media events.
- Prepare and coordinate advertising in local media.
- Manage the social media channels such as Instagram, X, and Facebook.
- Create graphic designs for advertisements and community updates.
- Builds and maintains good relationships with the media, coordinate interviews, and prepare media lines.
- Maintain and continually improve an effective media monitoring system to maximize the Member's opportunities for exposure.
- Monitor Parliament and other government legislatures and bodies for upcoming motions, debates and statements.
- Review all correspondence and information notes for the Member's attention to ensure accuracy and uniformity as well as correct style, format and content. Make changes to documents as needed.
- Format complex documents including presentations, reports, memos, forms and minutes for distribution to internal and external clients.

Qualifications
Education:
- Post-secondary education from a recognized institution OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.
Experiences:
- Experience providing administrative or front-desk support in an office or similar setting.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Experience working with others in a team environment and maintaining positive relationships with various stakeholders.
- Background in customer or client service, with a focus on clear communication and professionalism.
- Knowledge of the riding of Edmonton Centre.
Assets:
- Experience working with a Member of Parliament or a political office.
- Experience working in marketing and communications including knowledge of software such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator.
- Knowledge of a second language, particularly French.
