Linmark Steel Inc. is a CWB Certified structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and installation company specializing in commercial, industrial, and major infrastructure projects.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Estimator to join our team!

Linmark Steel is currently looking for a motivated and highly efficient individual to join our team in the position of Estimator. This position is primarily responsible for all aspects of preparing and completing accurate and timely full-cost estimates and responses to customer requests for budget prices and quotations for projects. The Estimator will work alongside our management team to prepare compelling bid proposal packages that address the customers and client's requirements as part of an overall "bid to win" strategy. This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Reviewing and interpreting bid instructions, project specifications, identifying labour, material and equipment needs and costs
  • Preparing thorough and accurate material and labour "take-offs"
  • Coordinating, consulting, and communicating with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors as necessary
  • Liaise with customers during bid development to ensure bid strategy is aligned with customer expectations
  • Reviewing commercial terms (outside of legal contract review) and negotiating appropriate alternatives as necessary
  • Supporting Management team through provision of assessments and pricing changes on projects
  • Identifying and collaborating with others on the development and implementation of efficient processes and tools for miscellaneous steel estimating

Having proven experience with miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection projects, the successful candidate will also possess the following attributes:

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years' experience in an Estimating role
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills formulating cost estimates for a lump sum, unit rate and cost plus contracts
  • Strong knowledge of industry-specific shop and field labour productivity values
  • Solves problems and contributes new ideas that improve quality and efficiency
  • Previous experience with estimating software is an asset
  • Exceptional client-facing and internal communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
