Skills Required:
- mainframe IMS (Information Management System) developer with years of experience is a seasoned professional specializing in designing, developing, and maintaining applications on mainframe systems using IMS DB and IMS DC technologies. They possess strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, and potentially other mainframe languages like PL/I, along with a deep understanding of mainframe architecture and operating systems
- Application Development:
- Creating and maintaining applications using IMS DB (database) and IMS DC (data communication) for data management and transaction processing on mainframes.
- Coding and Debugging:
- Writing and debugging code in COBOL, JCL, and potentially other mainframe languages.
- Performance Tuning:
- Optimizing application performance and resource utilization within the mainframe environment.
- Problem Solving:
- Identifying and resolving complex technical issues related to IMS systems and applications.
- System Design:
- Contributing to the design and architecture of new mainframe systems and applications.
- Mentoring:
- Guiding and mentoring junior developers in mainframe development best practices.
- Required Skills and Experience:
- IMS Expertise: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with IMS DB and IMS DC.
- COBOL Proficiency: Strong proficiency in COBOL programming, a core language for mainframe development.
- JCL Mastery: Solid understanding and experience with Job Control Language (JCL) for job submission and execution.
- Mainframe Knowledge: Familiarity with mainframe architecture, operating systems (z/OS), and related tools.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
