Akkodis is seeking a Azure Databricks Engineer for a contract position with a client in Toronto, ON (Hybrid). Ideally looking for experience with Java , Azure databricks and Spark , data modelling principles.(OLTP, OLAP, dimensional modelling), designing and building Big Data pipelines using spark and Delta lake, performance tuning query optimization and job orchestration in data bricks preference would be someone with the required skills and experience, particularly in large organizations.

Position: Azure Databricks Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON(hbrid)

Core skills:

Strong Hands-On programming in Java (8+ plus years preferred)

Proficiency with Azure databricks and Spark (structured streaming and SQL)

Solid understanding of data modelling principles.(OLTP, OLAP, dimensional modelling)

Expertise in performance tuning query optimization and job orchestration in data bricks

Experience in designing and building Big Data pipelines using spark and Delta lake

Design:

Proven experience architecting scalable big data systems on cloud (preferably Azure)

Knowledge of distributed systems data partitioning and compute/ storage cost optimizations

Ability to make decisions for schema evolutions, data versioning and access patterns

Additional skills:

Familiarity with Azure data lake Azure, Azure SQL and event hub/kafka

Understanding of data governance, lineage, and security models in Enterprise data platforms

Experience working in agile teams and using CI CD practices for data engineering

Preferred certifications:

MS Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate

Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or professional

MS Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Oracle Certified Professional: Java SE Programmer (nice to have)
