Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Health and Safety Advisor with a strong background in mining and industrial environments to lead our safety initiatives across multiple sites. This role is instrumental in ensuring a safe, compliant, and proactive safety culture across the organization.
The successful candidate will bring proven expertise in high-risk environments and will be responsible for advising and mentoring a team of safety professionals, supporting both strategic and operational safety objectives. A willingness to travel regularly to remote mine sites and industrial facilities is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across all operational sites.
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of HSE professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development.
- Conduct regular site visits, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance with legislation, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Proven experience in leading post-incident investigations and root cause analysis, and oversee the development of effective corrective actions.
- Collaborate with operations leadership to integrate safety into daily business operations and project planning.
- Deliver training, toolbox talks, and coaching to internal teams and contractors.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on safety performance metrics and trends to senior management.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and emerging risks.
- Work with field supervisors to ensure the application of site and company safety policies and procedures for field work.
- Liaise with Client Safety Representatives to ensure site compliance of existing and new safety standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a senior Health and Safety role within mining and/or heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop HSE teams across multiple locations.
- Strong working knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and risk management practices.
- Recognized qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, Diploma, or equivalent).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to operational sites, sometimes in remote locations.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work across diverse geographical and cultural settings.
