Lead Architectural Technologist

Location: Canmore, Alberta On-site with Hybrid Flexibility

Are you an experienced Architectural Technologist with a passion for mountain architecture, mass timber design, and meaningful community projects? We're seeking a talented and driven individual to lead exciting architectural initiatives and mentor a growing team of professionals. Ideal fit for someone who is passionate about a more rural outdoor lifestyle vs. city living.

About the Role

As a Lead Architectural Technologist, you will play a dual role-leading projects and guiding your team, while remaining hands-on with technical production and coordination. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment and values flexibility, creativity, and craftsmanship in architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural process from concept through construction, managing timelines, deliverables, and quality standards
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative learning environment
  • Coordinate effectively with engineers, consultants, and construction teams
  • Produce detailed construction documentation using Revit
  • Manage contract administration and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices
  • Engage in design research and innovation, particularly in areas such as prefabrication, passive house, and sustainable materials

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in architecture or building technology
  • Strong working knowledge of building envelopes, construction detailing, and Revit software
  • Project management experience; familiarity with CCDC contracts is an asset
  • A proactive, self-directed attitude with the ability to lead and inspire others
  • Interest in innovative building technologies and sustainable design
  • A passion for high-quality architecture in natural and remote settings

Why Join Us?

  • Flexible, hourly compensation model with optional health benefits
  • A small, supportive team environment located in the heart of Canmore
  • Hybrid work model (minimum 3 days in-office)
  • A culture that values work-life balance, outdoor living, and community impact
  • Unique project portfolio including hospitality, recreation, and community-driven initiatives
  • Pet-friendly studio space with easy access to trails and the Bow Valley landscape
