IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY

Interim Senior Director, Human Resources, Plant Operations

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer

Duration: 3 months (possible permanent)

Location: Etobicoke, Canada (close to airport) - Hybrid

Our client is a North American food manufacturing company with a global footprint. They are urgently seeking an Interim Senior Director of Human Resources (Plant Operations) to bridge the gap until a permanent candidate is selected. This interim executive will contribute to the implementation of the HR strategy as it pertains to plant operations across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and agile leader than collaborates with senior stakeholders across the business while also rolling up their sleeves to deal with periodic plant issues. Previous experience within a manufacturing environment is a mandatory requirement.

Key Accountabilities (may include):

  • Oversee recruitment and effective onboarding; attraction/retention and exit activities; new hire integration; performance management; legislation compliance; issue risk mitigation (legal issues); employee & issue tracking; temporary staff management, training, employee relations issue resolution; succession and talent management, and other HR functions.
  • Manage, coach and develop a team of roughly 15 HR professionals; Provide feedback and conduct formal evaluations to ensure skills, competencies and expertise help to meet department and company objectives.
  • Participate in the annual and long-term HR planning and strategy development process.
  • Contribute to the development of the HR agenda and lead projects aimed at improving programs and processes that will ensure HR and organizational effectiveness.
  • Oversee HR Plant Operations budget, communicating expectations to the HR Managers and identify variations from budget or estimates and ensure the development and implementation of agreed-upon corrective actions.
  • Establish and develop relationships with legal, recruitment, training, information collection and other external groups and associations as required to implement personnel plans and to ensure that the company interest and image are protected and promoted.
  • Contribute to the development of business processes and systems within the company to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Continuously improve the HR function through data reporting and decision making, as well as the development of new programs.
  • Identify company training needs and create programs to improve competency development of stakeholders.
  • Take an active role in the employee opinion survey to measure levels of employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the health and safety policy/program adherence at facility.

Competencies and Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing business leading several of the following areas: Performance Management; Talent/Succession Management; Recruitment; Employee Relations; Compensation; and Training and Development.
  • Completion of a university degree in Human Resources Management or a related discipline.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically, as the situation requires.
  • Minimum of 10 years senior level management experience within an HR discipline
  • Experience, preferably in the Food Manufacturing industry.
  • Completion of Chartered Human Resources Professional designation
  • Previous experience leading a department or major projects to build and execute the organization's HR strategy and culture
  • Motivated by a rapid business tempo and a desire to build through collaboration.
