Summary
Reporting the Vice of President of Winning Talent & Culture, the Director of People is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for driving and executing key WT&C (People & Culture) initiatives across the organization.
This role oversees the HRIS function, specifically with a focus on Ceridian Dayforce, serves as the senior HR Business Partner, and acts as a key advisor on employee relations, compensation strategy, people policies and employee engagement. The Director will work closely with cross-functional leaders to develop scalable people strategies that support business goals, foster a strong culture, and deliver an exceptional employee experience. Additionally, this position will be part of a best-in-class support team, known for pioneering the retail cannabis space in Canada, and contribute to other people-related tasks as needed.

Job Duties
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on all people-related matters; lead investigations and resolution of employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner.
- Partner with Executive Leadership to develop and implement People & Culture strategies aligned with business goals, focusing on enhancing employee engagement and organizational culture.
- Evaluate, implement, and oversee HRIS platforms and digital tools, specifically Ceridian Dayforce, to enhance efficiency and improve the employee experience.
- Support the planning, execution, and change management of HRIS system migrations or upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum engagement from employees.
- Support full-cycle talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention strategies, with experience in mergers and acquisitions considered an asset.
- Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
- Oversee performance management processes and employee development programs to support career growth and engagement.
- Lead employee engagement surveys, data analysis, and initiatives designed to improve results and boost employee morale.
- Maintain and update (WT&C) People & Culture policies, procedures, and the employee handbook to reflect best practices and compliance.
- Lead Benefits Administration in partnership with Manulife and Payroll & Benefits director, ensuring competitive offerings that enhance employee satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the FIKACON Committee to run the annual conference, fostering professional development and community within the organization.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of progressive People & Culture experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in HRIS systems management, with a strong preference for Ceridian Dayforce.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian employment law, labour relations and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex employee relations matters and resolve issues with discretion.
- Deep understanding of compensation structures and market trends.
- Exceptional communication both written and verbal, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience in retail, cannabis or hospitality industry is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CHRL or CPHR designation preferred.
