At PwC, our deals team focuses on providing strategic advice and support to clients in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring. They help clients navigate complex transactions and maximize value in their business deals.

In deal valuation at PwC, you will focus on providing analysis and valuation services for mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions. You will help clients make informed decisions by assessing the worth and potential risks of various deals.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience and deep knowledge of complex financial instruments, combined with a keen understanding of capital markets and business acumen.

Meaningful work you'll be part of

As a Complex Financial Instrument Valuations Director, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high-quality client service, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide valuation of complex financial instruments such as debentures with embedded derivatives, exotic options, structured products, contingent considerations, management equity plans, commodity contracts, private credits, venture capital.
  • Prepare valuation reports in support of financial reporting, disputes, taxation, corporate planning, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and corporate governance.
  • Lead Valuations teams, coaching and supporting team development, and sharing technical knowledge across the national and global PwC network.
  • Establish credibility with existing clients by demonstrating subject matter expertise and knowledge.
  • Contribute to pursuit teams and proposal development, including innovative approaches and methodologies tailored to specific client requirements.
  • Lead business development efforts to grow and expand the practice.

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve

  • Completed a Master of Mathematical Finance (or equivalent) with a strong academic background in a quantitative or finance discipline (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, or other relevant postgraduate degrees).
  • Successful completion of CFA, FRM, or PRM designation is an asset.
  • Experience in valuations, leveraged finance, banking, risk management.
  • Deep understanding of mathematical models used for pricing complex financial instruments, private investments, and capital markets.
  • Strong commitment to client needs, building and maintaining client networks, and community involvement.
  • Proven ability to manage project workflows and deliver on time.
  • Proactive, takes ownership of tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience in preparing and coordinating complex written and verbal materials.
  • Extensive experience as a team leader, supervising diverse teams, fostering trust, encouraging diverse views, and coaching staff with meaningful feedback.
  • Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R, Visual Basic, SQL) is an asset.
