POSITION OVERVIEW

Waypoint Insurance is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Personal Lines Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our underwriting team to develop and maintain profitable, long-term accounts for our Personal Lines producers. Your expertise will be crucial in assessing various risks and policy coverages to ensure alignment with our in-house programs. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Underwriting

• Apply advanced technical underwriting expertise to evaluate a broad spectrum of risk types and policy coverages, determining their suitability for inclusion in several in-house insurance programs.
• Implement rating structures and other terms as outlined in program agreements, ensuring consistency and accuracy in all underwriting decisions.

Strategic Collaboration & Innovation

• Collaborate with the underwriting team to refine and enhance our underwriting approach, integrating innovative ideas to improve processes and outcomes.
• Provide constructive feedback on successful strategies and areas for improvement to management, contributing to the development of strategic plans and future underwriting practices.

Client Relations and Administration

• Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with Personal Lines Producers, ensuring exceptional service and effective support for their needs.
• Assist in tracking and managing aggregate Personal Lines exposures across multiple contracts, identifying potential risks and opportunities for optimization.
• Support special projects and other duties as required, aligning with the department's objectives and scope.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Personal Lines rating systems and coverages, staying current with industry trends and regulatory changes.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A Level 2 BC Insurance license is an asset.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Personal Lines Underwriting, with a comprehensive understanding of current rating practices and coverage options.
• Previous experience with Lloyd's binding authority, particularly in general property/casualty business, is highly desirable.
• Exceptional customer service skills, with a proven ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently while also being a constructive and supportive team member.
