The Opportunity:
The Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat, and care for patients of a broad age range. They assume responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patients records and select, assemble, check and operate equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Respiratory Therapy coverage to the hospital - including the adult/paediatric and neonatal population.
Evaluate patients and recommend treatment plan.
Teaching and counseling patients/families.
Promoting continuous quality improvement.
Perform timely and accurate documentation.
Perform Electrocardiogram (ECG) tests.
Conduct pulmonary function testing.
Education and Experience:
College Diploma from Respiratory Program
CBRC exam completed
General Certificate of Registration with the CRTO
Must have current NRP, ACLS and BCLS
Competencies:
Basic computer skills, and knowledge of Microsoft applications
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Ability to function as an independent practitioner
Sound problem solving, communications (oral and written in the English language), conflict resolution and decision-making skills
Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.
Highly motivated team player with the ability to collaborate across disciplines/departments/programs
Ability to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure
Contribute to a strong teamwork environment
Excellent attendance and punctuality
More Information:
Location: Cardiorespiratory
Employment Type: Temporary Part-time (approximately one year)
Start Date: In line with next Hospital Orientation intake
Hours of Work: Days, evenings and weekends. We are happy to accommodate and schedule around current Travel RT assignments in the area.
Please be reminded that as a Hospital, in order to provide the necessary patient care, our operations run 24/7. Therefore, depending on the program for which you are applying, it may be an expectation that you are available to work weekdays and weekends, as well as all shifts - days, evenings, and nights.
Wage: $49.27 - $58.51 per hour
Shift Premiums:
Evening: additional $2.26/hour
Night: additional $2.98/hour
Weekend: additional $3.14/hour
