About The Role
DS is seeking an experienced and strategic VP of Digital Marketing (Interim) to join our team on a maternity leave replacement contract (14 months). In this high-impact leadership role, you'll oversee two core departments, content and media, and guide a multidisciplinary team of 10+ digital professionals, including media buyers and content strategists.
The ideal candidate combines strategic vision and hands-on expertise across digital platforms with proven leadership in agency environments. Reporting directly to executive leadership, you'll drive business impact across a diverse client portfolio spanning corporate, retail, non-profit, and political sectors. This is a hybrid position based out of our Montreal Office, with the flexibility to work remotely part-time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a high-performing digital team across paid media and content, ensuring alignment with client goals and agency objectives.
- Collaborate with the executive team to shape and execute the agency's digital strategy and operational roadmap, optimizing structure, workflow, and performance.
- Oversee multi-channel marketing campaigns-including programmatic, search, social, email, and content-that drive measurable outcomes (awareness, engagement, conversion, ROAS).
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior-level clients and partners, strengthening relationships, driving retention, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Partner with the sales and accounts teams to support new business development, contributing to pitches, proposals, and strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (research, data, accounts, sales, operations) on various projects.
- Mentor and coach team members, supporting career development, performance reviews, and team growth.
- Work closely with Account Managers to ensure seamless client communications and campaign execution.
- Stay current on emerging digital trends, tools, and platforms, proactively integrating new approaches to maintain a competitive edge.
Candidate Qualifications
- 7+ years of digital marketing experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role, ideally within a fast-paced agency environment.
- Expertise in key platforms such as Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Ads Manager, Google Ads, SA360, DV360, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads, Snapchat, and Mailchimp or comparable CRM/email platforms.
- Deep understanding of media planning, performance marketing, content strategy, and digital analytics (GA4, GTM).
- Proven success in managing and developing cross-functional teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate client and business goals into clear, actionable marketing plans.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, including C-suite and senior-level stakeholders.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
- Highly organized and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in political, advocacy, or social issue advertising is an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
