ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Business Development will be primarily responsible for developing opportunities that support our growth objectives in the transportation sector.

This strategic role focuses on modernizing business processes through AI optimization of existing transportation technologies, with a strong emphasis on opening markets in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), urban mobility, logistics, and public infrastructure.

This is a tailor-made challenge for an entrepreneurial leader passionate about innovation, equipped with sharp business acumen, and determined to create human value by concretely transforming the world of work, one organization at a time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development and Sales

  • Collaborate with the CEO to develop and deploy growth strategies aimed at achieving monthly targets for sales contacts and recurring revenue
  • Drive growth in targeted sectors by developing a pipeline of qualified opportunities
  • Orchestrate the entire sales cycle, from prospecting to closing, using CRM tools to maximize efficiency
  • Skillfully navigate complex decision-making dynamics by engaging the right stakeholders at the right time

Strategic Partnerships and Market Expansion

  • Identify, develop, and close strategic partnerships to open new markets and create sustainable growth opportunities
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and key events while supporting the marketing team in their success
  • Develop relationships and collaborate with public and parapublic stakeholders (agencies, municipal partners, etc.) to respond to technology RFPs in the transportation sector
  • Actively monitor government opportunities (OTP/SEAO) with organizations like Metrolinx, MTO, and municipalities for smart mobility, urban logistics, and infrastructure modernization projects
  • Cultivate relationships with the academic community to influence R&D and co-create innovative solutions for target markets
  • Maintain strategic intelligence on technology trends and AI market evolution to anticipate future needs and maintain our competitive edge

Client Approach and Consultative Selling

  • Act as a strategic advisor to clients and prospects to identify optimization opportunities, create synergies between human capital and technology investments, and accelerate their success
  • Analyze in depth the HR and technology challenges of potential clients to demonstrate how our solutions generate tangible value
  • Lead collaboration with the technical-commercial team throughout the sales cycle
  • Diagnose specific needs to propose the optimal combination of custom solutions and standard modules
  • Quantify ROI by measuring concrete impact on human and operational performance

Post-Sale Operational Excellence

  • Ensure relationship continuity as the strategic point of contact throughout the client lifecycle
  • Facilitate transition to the delivery team while maintaining oversight of client satisfaction
  • Cultivate business relationships to identify emerging needs and additional sales opportunities (upsell/cross-sell)
  • Document learnings and best practices to enrich our commercial approach

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 7 to 12 years of experience in complex B2B sales and/or strategic partnerships, ideally in SaaS, AI, or technology applied to transportation
  • Strong experience in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), urban mobility, logistics, or public infrastructure sectors
  • Proven track record in opening new markets and closing strategic partnerships, particularly with public or parapublic stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of RFP processes, public procurement, and the Ontario municipal and provincial ecosystem
  • Established network with organizations like Metrolinx, TTC, OC Transpo, VIA Rail, CN, or major cities like Toronto, Ottawa, Mississauga
  • Understanding of transportation-specific regulations, including safety issues, environmental standards, and data protection
  • French language skills (an asset)
  • Consultative sales approach with excellent listening skills and customer focus
  • Proven skills in negotiation, relationship management, and strategic account management
  • Strategic vision and results-oriented approach, with ability to identify and seize growth opportunities
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot or equivalent) and pipeline management processes
  • Strong interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI applied to mobility and operational performance challenges
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills with strong team collaboration
  • High degree of autonomy
