Location: Hybrid, Quebec

Empire Life is looking to hire a Client Portfolio Manager to join our Investments team!

What you'll be working on

  • Provide leadership and insight by effectively collaborating with our Distribution Partners and our sales team on Empire Life funds and performance
  • Represent the investment strategies by maintaining a strong understanding of the team holdings, portfolio activity, performance analytics and positioning
  • Ensure Empire Life's Investment strategies are effectively represented in the marketplace
  • Proactively partner with Empire's sales team to ensure a high degree of engagement with our most significant clients
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and the Investment Management team to maintain brand integrity across all channels
  • Develop and deliver presentations, market data research, and competitive analysis; provide guidance and feedback to the Investment Team members on presentations including content, positioning, tone and audience factors
  • Reconcile and measure returns against benchmarks and third party performance
  • Conduct due diligence and monitor activities of the Empire Life portfolio to determine performance and make recommendations to the Investment Team
  • Monitor significant events such as changes in market conditions, government regulations, etc. and develop a risk assessment plan
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Sales Leadership and Sales teams
  • Act as the primary contact for Investment Team requests, such as information and speaking engagements; ensure resources, information and messages are communicated in an efficient and effective manner
  • Ensure that relevant investment insights of the portfolio management team are delivered internally and externally in a timely manner via national conference calls, sales team meetings, videos, blogs and other media
  • Partner with the Marketing team to ensure the correct editorial approach is taken
  • Provide leadership, in conjunction with the CIO with respect to business plans for the team's investment disciplines
  • Share the responsibility with the Investment Analytics team to effectively oversee brand integrity across all channels and geographies
  • Respond to investment-related questions from internal and external sources
  • Supervise, coach and mentor team members; identify employee training and development needs; participate in the hiring and employment processes for team members; set employee goals and objectives, manage employee performance

What we're looking for you to have

  • Bilingualism (French & English) is required
  • 10+ years work experience as a Portfolio Manager or Representing Portfolio Managers
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
  • Demonstrated experience effectively engaging Investors
  • Knowledge of bonds, equities, money market and currencies
  • Strong understanding of industry, competitors, investment management principles
  • Completion of a University degree
  • Proven due-diligence experience is essential
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Well-developed ability to deliver presentations to a diverse audience
  • Well-developed communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Well-developed strategic planning capability
  • Ability to translate research and data into sales ideas
  • English is required for communicating with English speaking customers, advisors, or employees across Canada.
