Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR & Total Rewards, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the end-to-end administration of semi-monthly payroll while driving system enhancements and ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation. This is a hands-on role well-suited to someone who thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Maintain and validate time and attendance records to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Manage reconciliations, adjustments, garnishments, and government remittances.
  • Execute year-end payroll activities such as T4s and RL-1s in line with legislative requirements.
  • Serve as the system administrator for Dayforce, overseeing configuration, troubleshooting, and data integrity.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and Workers' Compensation Board reporting.
  • Monitor legislative changes and propose process improvements for payroll efficiency.
  • Lead Dayforce-related process enhancements and integrations with IT, HR, Benefits, and Finance.
  • Conduct testing, generate reports, and manage ongoing HRIS optimization.
  • Maintain system security and uphold data integrity standards.
  • Resolve vacation calculation issues and respond to employee system inquiries.
  • Provide timely payroll reports to Finance on a pay-period and monthly basis.
  • Ensure accurate and timely remittance of payroll-related statutory payments, including Employer Health Tax and WCB.
  • Complete year-end reconciliations in compliance with federal and provincial laws.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries and system access support.
  • Create and maintain payroll policies and procedures aligned with business needs.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

  • 3+ years of full-cycle, multi-provincial payroll experience (Quebec experience strongly preferred).
  • Advanced working knowledge of Dayforce HCM, including time and attendance and system configuration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables).
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and year-end processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of discretion with confidential information.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
