Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist (Lathe) to produce high-quality parts using CNC equipment such as lathes, mills, grinders, and more. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, blueprint reading, and CNC controls. The role is for the afternoon shift, with the first three months of training scheduled on the morning shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC lathes and other machines (mills, grinders, etc.) to manufacture precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and job orders.
- Set up machines and adjust settings for optimal performance.
- Verify part dimensions using micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools.
- Troubleshoot and report machining issues or deviations to the supervisor.
- Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure job accuracy.
- Cross-train on other CNC equipment to increase versatility.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
- Follow all safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Certification or technical knowledge in machining is an asset.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3-4 years operating CNC lathes and/or milling machines.
- Prior experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing preferred.
- Skilled in reading technical drawings with knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
- Familiar with at least two CNC control systems (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens).
- Strong knowledge of tooling, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, etc.
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Precision measuring and manual machining experience is an asset (5 years preferred).
