What you will do
- Convert and migrate GIS-based routing data (e.g., stops, runs, maps) into BusPlanner formats using Excel, SQL, or Access
- Transform and validate student data from Student Information Systems (SIS) using XML templates
- Collaborate with Implementation Consultants to prepare client data for onboarding
- Analyze legacy data for inconsistencies, formatting issues, and structural gaps
- Attend weekly or bi-weekly client meetings to guide them through data requirements and conversion milestones
- Communicate clearly with clients on data-related questions, timelines, and deliverables
- Troubleshoot errors in data structure, logic, and file formatting
- Maintain accurate documentation of data conversion processes and client-specific steps
- Improve internal tools, templates, or processes for greater conversion efficiency
What you bring to the table
- 1 to 3 years of experience working with data migration, data wrangling, or software implementations
- Familiarity with GIS data formats and tools such as shapefiles, KML, or spatial data tables is an asset - what's required is a strong willingness to learn!
- Strong proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of SQL or Microsoft Access
- Comfort working with XML files and understanding data schemas and templates
- Excellent communication skills, including experience in explaining technical issues to non-technical audiences
- Meticulous attention to detail and an analytical mindset
- Experience working with or for school boards, transportation services, or government data systems is a plus
Successful candidates will work in our Waterloo office for 3+ days a week for a six-month training period, with a possibility of expanded remote work after successful completion of the training phase.
The expected salary for this role starts at $60,000 , with flexibility based on experience and qualifications.
